Moving boxes

  • Purchasing your boxes and packing supplies is recommended 2-4 weeks prior to your relocation.
  • If you are moving locally and intend on cleaning up after your move then it is always wise to leave some of the utilities on lights, water, etc. A few days beyond move out date.
  • Properly identifying all moving boxes of the intended location and contents will save you time, frustration and expenses. ( We offer a all inclusive packing service.)
  • When packing boxes always pack over a cushioned surface.
  • Be cautious when using newspaper because the ink can stain certain items.
  • Taking your pets to a friend or family member on the day of your move can be less stressful for them.
  • A few weeks prior to your move it is always a good idea to sort through UN-needed items, or organizing a yard sale and giving to your local charity.
  • Always keep in mind your safety when lifting any box or piece of furniture. ( It doesn’t take much to injure yourself permanently.)
  • Try not to mix items from different rooms in the same box.
  • Do not over-pack heavier items-place these items in the smallest box.
  • Always properly seal the tops of your boxes with packing tape.

Proper Loading Procedures

During the in-home evaluation, you can ask them how they will go about the packing process. Find out what methods and materials they will use and how many people will be in your home to pack your goods. You can also ask how they will pack up your more fragile items, such as artwork and antiques.Proper loading procedures
Removing your belongings from your home and loading them onto the moving truck is one of the most important parts of any move, which is why it’s important to discuss with your mover their policies when it comes to loading, so you can figure out the logistics of the process and make sure everything goes smoothly on moving day.

In regard to loading processes

The mover should take all of the proper precautions, such as:

  • Having the right equipment
  • Following the appropriate safety procedures
  • Making sure the truck is loaded with the weight balanced evenly

While these methods will help to ensure the safety of your belongings, you’ll also want to know what measures the movers will take to protect the inside of your home. Ask them how they will prevent damage to your floors, carpets and walls as they remove the goods from your home and put them in the truck. Also, find out if they will lay out runners or other protective materials to place over your floors if it is raining on your moving day
